Two new coding competitions have recently started. The first is 2008 Winter Coding Competition run by Drunken Coders, GBA and DS games with a Winter holiday theme are accepted. Prizes are 50%, 30% and 20% of the total prize fund for 1st to 3rd place winners. More information can be found here (http://www.drunkencoders.com/compo/), if you cant enter please consider donating instead to support the compo.
On a more lighter note is the annual Crap Games Coding Competition 2008 for the GP2X. The aim is to create a really crap game for the GP2X, I entered this compo last year and won 3rd place, I still don't know if that's good or bad http://www.emuboards.com/invision/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif Prizes are of course a load of crap but its the fun of taking part that counts, there were some great crap entries last year http://www.emuboards.com/invision/style_emoticons/default/smile.gif More information at http://www.homebrewgames.org/cgc/.
On a related note I have been asked by several people when GBAX 2008 (http://gbax.gp2x.de/) will be taking place. We did have plans to start the competition around September/October but Craig has been busy with the Pandora launch which had been delayed from around August to September. We decided on the rough date before the delay of Pandora launch so the compo dates will probably be pushed back again to later in the year, it is unlikely will be October, more likely or November/December. I will try and get a word with Craig and see what's happening.
