Ver la versión completa : gp2x virtual machine
Hola Gente,
excuse for my poor english, i have a question:
there is a virtual machine for gp2x?
thanks for all..:-)))

What Virtual Machine? A Java virtual machine or any emulator for GP2X?
If you want to emulate desktop OS's like Windows or MacOS in this console you can't. You need a desktop machine to make this, is too much complex for a portable console. You have a MS-DOS emulator called dosbox for play classic pc games, but is a bit slow.

Hello, lukezab. Don't worry about your English, it is good enough to be understable. Anyway, it is possible that you prefer writing in Spanish, Catalan, Lunfardo or Alpujarreño, as we speak any of these African dialects fluently.
I'm not sure about what you mean by "virtual machine" for the Gp2x. D'you mean a Java virtual machine? There are a couple of these for J2SE and J2ME. We have Python and Fenix virtual machines, as well. We do not have a CLR virtual machine, fortunately.
If you actually mean a Gp2x emulator, please refer to this thread: http://www.gp32spain.com/foros/showthread.php?t=57352

...
Thanks juanvvcnm and hardyx.
well, i'm italian... i'm speaking, write, italian (offcourse), portoghese, english (poor)...:-(
I ask if there a virtual machine (Vmware, o Qemu) of gp2x. everything here. :-)))
i think this, if i have a virtual gp2x, i'am testing immediatly the program, and i have the possibility to take a bad line or instructions of program, or a irreversible error.
I ask: is possible?
I promise, this is the last ask.._:-)))
thanks for the welcome....

Welcome to our community!
- There isn't any GP2X emulator for PC.
- Developers use fenix or C+SDL that works in PC and GP2X.
- Emulating any PC desktop system in GP2X is slow and complex.
No emulator exists lukezab :)
ok..._((((
pode fechar es post... :-))))
Close and dead this post....:-)))
thanks all....
ecuse for multiple reply...

there is no emulator for GP2x, but if you are programming using SDL it's very likeable to run in GP2x recompiling exclusively for GP2x.
If you are using GLBasic, if it works on pc it wrks on GP2x and the same for Fenix (memory limitations apart)
I would like to think you don have any assembler code for the GP2x...:brindis:
How about samba server or samba client? you must use a gp2x conected to your gp2x, but you can program and imediatly send to gp2x an run in it, and if it freezes, you have access to kernel via telnet or termula.
In my sign have information about samba client (only for F100 if dont have a craddle), samba server it's in news, four or five months ago.
Someone can confirm it?

Hola,

Hello lukezab.
As far I know you can emulate a ARM9 under Qemu and install a Starndar Linux distribution design for embedded system. In fact is the standard way to prepare a system image to copy in a SD or MMC card (or other internal storage device attached) and boot from it in several single board computer or computer on chip.
I don't know the singularities of the Linux distribution ran by the GP2X to adapt the image emulated under Qemu, so i don't know if it's possible copy the software specially designed by GP2X like the multimedia player included with firmware on our virtual GP2X and get it working. I think need some tweaks and hacks, libraries like SDL and too much testing.
If you want run some GP2X homebrew or test your own develops its easy or hard depends on language and the way it has been developed. FOr example, we can test on our PC without a GP2X most sosftware programed in Fenix, python (like thing made with pygame) and ruby as well as most shellscripts, but we cannot imagine if the software are too heavy for the GP2X.
If you can test your programs on a real machine we can do it for you if you can upload to a FTP or similar and tell us it.

Hola lukezab.

The web you posted is very interesting lukezab, thanks.
We have another project here for using the USB in the F-100, published in 2007 by Archer (gp32spain user).

Don't you know? GPH is going to start selling a new gp2x: now we are calling it gp3x. Maybe you must wait a few weeks and watch it before make a decission.
Thanks for the link, i'm making my own ext->usbh+svideo cable and i don't know why isn't working, all info is apreciated.
