Este programa formatea la Gp2x dejándola limpia, vacía, sin nada. No podrás ni jugar, ni ver vídeos, ni siquiera podrás encenderla. ¿Para qué sirve, entonces? Si la consola ya estaba estropeada de antes, este programa puede ser que te ayude a arreglarla dejando la consola preparada para instalar un nuevo firmware.

Orkie nos trae un pequeño firmware que arranca desde una tarjeta SD con formato FAT32 y borra totalmente de la NAND el kernel, el sistema de archivos, y la zona de memoria del usuario corrigiendo las corrupciones de memoria que suelen ocurrir al downgradear desde el firmware 3.0.0 a 2.x.x (aunque este fallo tambien pueda ocurrir por el uso excesivo de la NAND).

Deja el bootloader intacto.

Jurk, te has quedado más que corto en tus explicaciones. No hay que dejar que un novato pruebe este programa a ver qué hace, sobretodo porque los que tengan la F200 ni sabrán qué es eso de la NAND y menos aún downgradear. "¿Limpiar la NAND? Bueno, vale, se la ve llena de polvo".

No estoy de acuerdo en que esto haya llegado a portada porque se le da publicidad y alguien podría usarlo sin saber qué hace. Es un programa avanzado de taller de reparaciones, dejémoslo ahí donde no pueda hacer daño.

Sorry, English only (my Spanish is not good enough to explain this) but hopefully somebody will translate it for me.

Firstly, this is not a virus - it is a legitimate tool designed to recover GP2Xs who have had the NAND damaged.

The NAND drivers supplier by GamePark Holdings are extremely poor and mistakenly mark many blocks on the NAND as bad, even if they aren't. These can build up over time and eventually many people are left with a NAND which appears to be 50&#37; or more full, even when it is empty, just because there are so many incorrect bad block markers. This is the reason why many people bricked their GP2X when downgrading from FW3.0 to FW2.0 - there is simply not enough space to install a firmware when you have so many bad blocks marked.

The NAND is split into several portions on the GP2X: bootloader, param, kernel, filesystem and user. This tool completely wipes the kernel, filesystem and user portions but NOT the bootloader. This means that fake bad blocks are removed in those sections, which are the only places where it [the bad block problem] occurs anyway. Since the bootloader is not touched, you can then just copy FW2.0 onto your SD card, reboot holding start+select and it will flash it as normal.

This is perfectly safe on the F100, but the F200 has not been tested (I do not own one). You only need to run this if you have tried to downgrade or upgrade and you have got a brick that nothing can repair. Unfortunately, it also removes any marking for real bad blocks, but this is not a problem because GamePark Holdings destroy the manufacturer table anyway on every single GP2X and real bad blocks will soon be remarked after you have flashed a firmware.

I released this quietly to avoid people misunderstanding the purpose of this tool as has happened here, I am quite disappointed people have jumped to such negative conclusions.

There is a lot going on behind the scenes, just needs pulling together and more testing. There are very few people working on Open2x so everything takes time and we all have real lives (sometimes).

Bueno, yo la verdad que le encontre una aplicacion mas util. Le cambie el icono y le puse uno de NINTENDO 64. Se lo pase a todos mis amigos diciendoles que es un nuevo emulador de nintendo 64 que corre a fullspeed con sonido. Que lo ejecuten y apaguen la consola despues.

Es cierto.. me he quedado sin amigos. Pero las novias/esposas/jefes de ellos estan agradecidos y yo me he divertido que ni te cuento!!! :) :D

No. You install a firmware using Start+Select as normal.

JTAG is still needed. This tool only works if the bootloader is working, and is for repairing damaged NAND chips.
